BUSINESS SUPPORT
As the Local Economic Development Officer employed by Council, Kathy provides a service to support new and developing business ventures at a grass roots level. This service is about linking people with information, expertise and networks.
Why?
A healthy vibrant local economy and community benefits all, so the Western Bay of Plenty District Council wants to encourage business growth. This service, through a hands-on approach, will help individuals and small businesses to establish a sound base from which to grow.
How?
1. Putting people in touch with people: actively working alongside businesses to make setting up, doing business and networking in the region easier.
2. Providing a resource with a foot in both camps: Kathy is someone on the inside who can liaise to provide a smoother path for new and establishing businesses. The bureaucratic processes that we are required to use can discourage people sometimes. We want initiatives in our District to be successful so this service can help smooth the bumps in the process.
3. Information, resources and direction: a service that businesses can tap into to find information, resources and direction to where other expertise lies. There are lots of services available, and many are free. Kathy can help you identify your needs and the services to fill that need.
Who?
Whether you’re a business, an individual or a community organisation, you can access our service through a phone call or email. Even if you just want to find out about current business development in your community, Kathy can link you with the information. Or if you have an idea that you want to develop and need advice on the next step to take, she can help.
When?
By appointment at any time during or after work hours. And wherever you wish. Just call to arrange a time.
