TECT All Terrain Park

Welcome to the TECT All Terrain Park.

This site will keep you up to speed on a unique development that has the potential to become one of New Zealand's premier venues for active outdoor recreation - the TECT All Terrain Park.

Some 1261 hectares of land, largely comprising forestry and native bush, in between Tauranga and Rotorua was purchased by the Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Tauranga City Council with the support of naming rights sponsor TECT (Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust) in 2004.  Bay Community Trust provided initial loan facilities to Councils for the capital purchase of the proposed Park.  An additional 385 hectares of land was brought by the councils in 2006.

At this stage plans are underway to develop the park in stages over the next two decades.  This staged development will allow different areas of the park to be developed over time to cater for a range of active and passive recreational activities including mountain biking, rallying, motocross, firearm sports, 4x4, equestrian, tramping, angling and orienteering.

The first stage of development involves the councils working with potential users to ensure their needs are built into a development plan for the park.  The development plan will provide the blueprint for future development including details of the type, timing and scale of activities and required infrastructure such as public access roads.

It is anticipated that initial activities will get underway at the TECT All Terrain Park in 2008.
