Land area - hectares: The TECT All Terrain Park includes some 1,641ha of land, currently comprising forestry and native bush.
Location: The TECT All Terrain Park is situated off State Highway 36, the main road link between Tauranga and Rotorua. In terms of distances from major service centres, users will only need to travel 29kms from Tauranga, 27kms from Rotorua or 30kms from Te Puke to get to the park.
Potential activities: The park is to be opened up over the next 5-20 years to cater for a range of active and passive recreational pursuits including firearm sports, mountain biking, archery, kayaking and rafting, 4x4, trial and trail bikes, motocross, quad bikes, drag racing, car rallying, equestrian, tramping, angling and orienteering.
Development: Phase One - 2007 and 2008: This phase is effectively the design phase which includes the development (Structure Plan) for the park. The plan will provide the blueprint for future development. User groups will be required to develop plans for their individual activities. There will be opportunities for organised visits to the Park during this phase.
Phase Two - 2008 -2011: Staged development and opening of the Park.
Phase Three - 2011 onward: Range of activities taking place including possible hosting of national and international events.
