Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management
|
|
Welcome to the first edition of the WBOPDC/TCC Supplement for Temporary Traffic Management, October 2004.
This manual has been prepared jointly by the Western Bay of Plenty District Council, Tauranga City Council and Transit New Zealand in conjunction with other organisations and contractors associated with, and concerned about safety within the road corridors as it applies to all activities.
The intent of this Supplement is to provide a user friendly publication and contains additional information and clarity required to set up a safe work site in an easily understood and consistent way that will also assist in meeting statutory requirements. Your support in its use will assist in ensuring the Health and Safety of those working on our roads and the safety of the road users. It should not be seen as a burden, but something that forms a part of our every day existence.
As Road Controlling Authorities, we have the obligation to ensure that the road corridor is operated in a safe and efficient manner. I would also take this opportunity to show our appreciation to the Roading Industry within the area covered by this Supplement, who assisted in the preparation of this Supplement, and also the other members of the working party that helped prepare it.
If the Supplement is to survive as a practical code then it will require ongoing review, and we trust the Roading and Service Industry will continue to take the opportunity to be involved in this process.
