Funding for Community Organisations

What kind of funding assistance does Council offer community organisations?
Council offers four types of funding available:

  • Discretionary Community Grants
    Discretionary Community Grants provide financial assistance to community groups or individuals who are working for the benefit of the public

  • Fee Abatement
    This funding helps organisatons apply for an abatement of fees paid to Council for special projects.

  • Facilities in the community fund
    This fund assists groups provide recreation facilities within the community.

  • Safer Community Council Funding
    These are for projects that relate to safety / Welfare of the community.

  • Fundview database
    Fundview is a computer database of information about funding sources for groups in New Zealand established by the Funding Information Service. You can search the database yourself by using one of the computers in your local library. You can also access this service from home by logging onto your account through the library website. Once you have logged on, go to the Home page and the Fundview database will be listed under funding. For further information contact your librarian.

  • Breakout
    This is a primary source of information about funding for study and professional development in New Zealand. Breakout will help to select the most appropriate award, scholarship or grant for you.  A request to search the database can be made by completing a request form, available from Council’s corporate administration officer on 07 571 8008.
